Our Church

Here at Port Hardy Christian Fellowship, we are a loving, energetic, vibrant group of people who love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, souls, and minds andwe're not afraid to show it.There is no dress code so feel free to wear what you are comfortable in.....jeans or suit & tie, jeans or dress, jeans or slacks......jeans or skirt.  God is concerned with the inside not the outside.

We express our Love for our Lord, not only in our actions and words, but also in the freedom expressed through worship.   Sit or stand, raise your hands or don't, flag or dance or shout for joy as long as it honors God.

We want you to know you are wanted here so we feel it's important to communicate what we value, things like honesty, authenticity, generosity, transparency, acceptance, a heart for the poor, people who don't yet know Jesus, diversity, servant hood, Biblical truth, simplicity, worship, and a dependency on the Holy Spirit. I trust there is something in this list that will make you want to check us out further.

Our Vision:

  • To establish in Port Hardy a place which will have the resources, both in numbers of people and amount of finances to impact our town, region, province, nation and our world for the Lord Jesus Christ by being a church for restoring, building and releasing.

Our Mission:

To develop devoted disciples. To find creative and relevant ways to present the good news to every person in Port hardy so they can discover their purpose and find meaning in Christian living. Our Purpose is to:

Our PAST

Port Hardy Christian Fellowship was started in the early 40’s by 2 young women with a vison some boldness and a passionate call to this area. Over the years there have been many who have held leadership of the work here. At its peak in the 80’s it was over 140 strong for Sunday worship and over the years has had a Sunday school at times that was as high as 135 in attendance.

We have had much blessed influence as well from strong first nation believers from the various bands in the north island area that often drove the vibrancy of the church.

In 2009 we believed for God for a local 51 room hotel. Many miracles were needed for us to close the deal on what was then called the Thunderbird Inn but God provided at every turn and The Providence Place Inn ministry centre came in to being in May of 2009.

In October of 2010 God began to pour out in what would become more than 2 years of His outpouring. During this time we saw many saved, healed and delivered. We saw multiple cancers healed, blind eyes and deaf ears opened, lame walking, allergies removed, demons cast out, backs and hernias healed and many more amazing miraculous things that God did. Along with that we saw a myriad of signs and wonders from the angelic to gold dust and oil and time after time of Holy Spirit visitations that left us wrecked for the normal and desiring for God to take us deeper in to his heart. One of the greatest gifts received was a love for God that drove the people to love especially the lost.

Our PRESENT

PHCF today is a vibrant group of God lovers and worshippers. Pastors George and Karen Ewald were raised up in this church and have been the lead pastors for 14 years. Economy and jobs have taken many down island in recent years yet God is faithful and slowly but surely more are coming in, almost weekly at times. We are passionate about the presence of God because we believe encounters with His presence changes us. We become more like Him and that changes us in community, both in the church and out. We are also seeing many from the streets around us that are coming in desiring prayer and freedom from what has held them captive. It is the Love of God that is winning their hearts. We are currently working on seeing a true New testament style Ekklesia gathering where the grass roots people are released in the flow of our worship services and we are encouraging the gathering(Ekklesia) of the saints throughout the week. Not just Bible studies but also breaking bread, doing life and ministering to one another.

Our FUTURE

We know another wave is coming! God has spoken to us of this through many prophetic voices both in the church and from without. We cannot conjure it up but as we go after God with everything that is in us we know he desires to pour out again and again.

In this coming season we believe God is calling us to step into an Ekklesia model where it is not a top down structure but a bottom up structure. Where the role of the five - fold leadership and ministry is to build up, equip and encourage the saints to do the work of the ministry. This brings all hands on deck both in the church corporately in our worship settings but also through the church in the world we live in and lives we touch.  1stCorinthians 14:23 says “each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up.” God is calling us to step into this in preparation for an even greater move of His Spirit!
